The Capsule wardrove edit

So, you’ve booked the holiday and now its packing time, eek!

We all have that last minute panic when it comes to packing, especially if its a last minute booking. The most effective way to achieve a cohesive holiday wardrobe is to invest in pieces that can work with one another. This increases your outfit choices with fewer items and saves suitcase space.

Holiday shopping can be daunting, especially if youre short on time. Ive done the hard work for you and narrowed down some of my favourite holiday must haves on the high street. Heres the breakdown

The Cover Up

Cover-ups arent just for the beach, they can be worn in many different ways. Look out for gilets such as this one from River Island that can be worn around the pool as well as out and about.

Style tip: Adding a belt to your waist will transform your cover up into a dress.

The Good Quality Basics

Don’t underestimate your basic tops, they can be perfectly paired with trousers, shorts and skirts. Look out for simple details such as lace to add ome interest.

The Denim Shorts

A good pair of denim shorts will be an essential on holiday. Pair with a basic top, sandals and a hat for a simple and effective daytime look. For the evening add some length to your outfit by adding a long line gilet.

The Statement Jacket

A statement jacket is a really effective way of transforming an outfit from day to night. Go for a slightly cropped fit as this style will look best with most items. This embellished jacket from Miss Selfridge is the perfect example of how to add some glam to your look.

The Trousers

I know what youre thinking, trousers on holiday?  Trust me, straight-legged trousers are perfect for hot weather. Not only are they a great versatile piece they give the illusion of endless legs, whats not to love? Pair with a basic top and hat in the day and an embellished jacket and heels in the evening.

The Dress

When looking for a dress, go for a neutral tone and cut, versatility is key. This metallic cami dress from River Island is perfect for the day paired with a tote bag and sunnies. Add a heeled sandal and an embellished jacket for the evening.

Shoes

I always suggest packing one pair of comfortable sandals that can be worn in the day and a pair of heeled sandals. This gives you the option to transform an outfit from day to night with a simple swap of shoe.

The Swimwear

To get the most out of your swimwear, go for sets that can be mixed and matched. These sets from Calzedonia can be worn together giving you four bikini options rather than just two.

The Bag

Tote bags are perfect to carry your beach essentials. Look out for ones that have detachable clutches inside, youll then have a bag for the evening. Two bags for the price of one!

The Sunglasses

It can be very easy to pack multiple sunnies for your travels. Go for a classic pair such as aviators that will go with most outfits to save space in your hand luggage!

The Hat

Go for straw, it will keep you in the shade without you overheating.
