Clinique’s Skincare Prescriptions

I have used Clinique products for years, ever since I was a complexion-paranoid teenager and I’ve always been impressed.  Gentle, allergy tested and 100% fragrance free – the products are kind to your skin and will leave it glowing.  The makeup has come a long way too so when I visited the Clinique Counter in Debenhams, Churchill Square recently, I was eager to see what’s new.

My lovely Clinique expert was Jess who asked me key questions about my skin and skin concerns.  This resulted in a skincare prescription of recommended products tailored to my needs, which we tried before moving onto makeup application.

What I loved most about the skincare aside from the performance, were the names.  Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes & Lips does exactly what it says on the tin and fast.  It’s a top seller and is so effective at removing dirt and grime; it’s easy to see why.  We also tried the New Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush.  Sonic movement offers deep yet gentle cleansing as two bristle types target different areas on your face, dislodge a world of impurities, dirt and pollution that hand washing may miss and even lift makeup residue.

For the makeup, we decided to focus just on the base and I wanted tips on contouring in a hurry for an everyday look too.

The products used on me were:
•    Chubby stick for cheeks in Robust Rhubarb
•    Beyond Perfecting Foundation in Alabaster
•    Airbrush concealer in Illuminator

The foundation has the ability to absorb up to five times it’s own weight in oil and can hydrate the skin in necessary areas also. This means that you’ll end up with an even complexion that looks fabulous all day long plus, thanks to the lightweight texture, you’ll get great coverage that feels and looks natural.

If you look at this picture, the right hand side as you look at the screen is wearing Clinique foundation and the left isn’t.  See the difference?  I can, especially under the eyes.

Jess gave me a great tip for ‘lady girl’s guide’ to contouring!  Using the Chubby Stick, apply colour high up on the cheekbones and then softly blend into the apples of the cheeks and out toward the hairline.  This lifts and defines your cheekbones in seconds.  Genius.  You might also like to try the contouring chubby sticks in Curvy Contour and Hefty Highlight, which are easy to blend thanks to the gel-like texture.

I felt and looked revived and fresh faced and loved the insider beauty tips I was given along the way.  I recommend the experience if you’re stuck in a rut, need inspiring, have any skin care concerns or don’t know where to start.

Clinique offer a range of consultations and makeovers lasting 20 minutes or you can go fro the express service lasting ten minutes if you’re in a hurry.  Choose from eye makeup master classes and brow grooming to finding your perfect lipstick or foundation match to developing a personalised skincare regime.  The best bit?  It’s all free!

Also worth a look:
•    The NEW Clinique Pop Colour + Primer – smoothing lip primer and rich colour in one with over 16 juicy shades available.
•    The NEW 2-in-1 Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer.  This multi-tasking product covers like a foundation and cleverly conceals blemishes and under eye bags or dark circles in one application.  Available in 21 shades so you’re bound to find your skin tone in a bottle!
