The No-Diet Diet

January is a dull month isn’t it!  I don’t know about you but personally I’m very bored of all the diet fads so I’ve trawled the Centre to find food satisfaction with my no-diet diet: filling food that doesn’t make you feel like you’re dieting.  Think healthy food that is a treat to eat so you get all the pleasure without the side order of guilt.

Sounds better than a lettuce leaf, right?..

Drink to Your Health

If you’re in a rush and need a quick boost, try swapping your caffeine fix for a fruit smoothie.  The Energy Lift Super Smoothie at Boost Juice Bar uses mango, banana, tropical juice, no-fat milk, TD4 mango yoghurt and ice PLUS the added bonus of an energizer booster.  It’s therefore perfect for bleak mornings and with only 76.7 calories and 1.3g fat.

Eat Healthy and Fresh Produce

Eating Clean is the latest trend and it is here to stay.  It’s a lifestyle choice as opposed to a fad and concentrates on eating good quality, fresh and natural produce.  Italian Kitchen serves so much choice when it comes to healthy but tasty options.  From smoothies and salads oozing with fresh produce to the classic bruschetta, homemade soups and super healthy seafood options, you can’t fail to fill up healthily here.

Choose oats and grains

We all need fibre in our diets and one of the healthiest ways to get it is oats and grains, found in foods such as porridge and quinoa.  Oats are already the breakfast of choice for many athletes who find it gives them energy for longer.  Costs offer porridge pots at only 294 calories and 3.9g pf fat per portion.  Top it with honey for a natural energy lifter.

For a lunchtime option, try Ed’s Easy Diner for their substantial and extremely tasty chickpea and quinoa burger served in gluten-free bun.  It’s not all bottomless icecream sundaes and hotdogs here you know!

Treat Yourself Right

In my diet, chocolate has to find a way in!  If you opt for dark chocolate, with a minimum of 70% cocoa solids, you’ll be enjoying the healthiest kind, since it has little sugar, its fat comes from cocoa butter and it contains iron and magnesium. Whhop!  Thornton’s Coffee & Walnut Chocolate Block (90g), £2.25 is inspired by the famous coffee and walnut cake, rich in flavor with crunchy walnut pieces too.  It’s seriously heavenly.

So there you have it, a few tasty options that don’t make you feel restricted, each bound to cheer up your January. Enjoy!
