In its 87th year, the Academy Awards didn’t disappoint in the fashion stakes with embellished nude gowns topping the trend heap. From sequins to diamond encrusted creations, dresses sparkled at the Oscars with shades such as blush pink, white, pearl and grey-silver sashaying down the red carpet.
Julianne Moore dazzled in her white strapless Chanel number with diamond and onyx embellishment while Gwyneth Paltrow wore romantic ruffles in Ralph & Russo and both Jennifer Aniston in Atelier Versace and Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab Couture both looked breath-taking in glittering neutral embellished tones.
Breaking away from nude hues was Rosamund Pike in custom Givenchy Couture by Ricardo Tisci. This satin and lace floor length red gown oozed sexy in a playful way with a thigh-high split at the front. Emma Stone also championed the cheeky split and bold colour choice in her green Elie Saab Couture dress, while Reese Witherspoon looked super sleek in monochrome by Tom Ford –a key look for spring summer.
In my opinion however, the men were the ones who dared to be different with Jared Leto sporting a pale blue tux by Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci and David Oyelowo wearing head-to-toe burgundy by Dolce & Gabanna.
Neutral or bold are the two clear choices. Which one are you?
