River Island has captured the current boho and festival trends perfectly, brimming with hippy chic kimonos and crochet duster jackets, fringed accessories and heels that will make you drool.  I spoke with Lisa Woolford, Store Manager who gave me her fashion tips and predictions to take you stylishly through the summer and into autumn.

This season, it’s all about looking pretty, carefree and comfortable so ‘even if you’re not going to a festival, you should look like you are’, says Lisa.  Her top 5 buys to perfect this look are:

1. An off the shoulder top – these are seen everywhere right now and are so flattering
2. Kimono – beachwear worn as outerwear for the every day is very now
3. Culottes Suit – unique and edgy but also versatile and comfortable, perfect for the office during summer months too
4. Flared trousers in a touchable fabric like silk – the ultimate bohemian buys
5. Fringed bag in leather or suede fabrics – this one item alone will update your wardrobe

Items:
White leather fringed clutch bag, £25
Girls black bardot culotte jumpsuit, £15
Dark red bardot top, £12
Cream crochet cropped kimono, £40
Purple square print palazzo pants, £30

The good news for your bank balance is that boho and 70s will filter into Autumn/ Winter too and be updated with more leather and colouful faux fur. Think mustard and navy, a combination of textures and fabrics such as leather and silk, crochet and fur, ‘these fabrics are already appearing in our stores now’, says Sarah, ‘so you can get ahead of the fashion pack and buy your essentials now’.

Items:
Girls pink flower hair garland, £6 (can be worn for adults too)!
Brown lace up ankle flats, £30
Silver sleeveless faux fur gilet, £60

Temporary metallic tattoos are also popular, giving you grown up glamour and the look of body art without commitment.  Flower crowns worn on natural, care-free locks and lace up shoes, including flats, are also key accessories with the latter presenting a move on from the gladiator sandal.

For men, fashion gets fun with statement and paint splatter tees adding a splash of personality and colour to any look.  Worn with a River Island tailored suit and sneakers, the on trend smart casual look is easy to achieve.

I personally adore the kid’s collections.  With clothing from 0-12 years, children can also get catwalk ready.  Not only do I love the imagination behind the designs but also the clothing is so well thought out that each piece expresses style and personality while letting kids be kids.  There is nothing provocative for little girls or over-cute for little boys, its just heaps of fun.  Check out this boys t-shirt for instance (bottom left).  It has my son captured in one slogan, ha ha, so I just had to buy it.

The Mini range caters to 0-3 and the boys and girls from 3-12.

Good to know:
•    The store is replenished three times a week so you will always be spoilt with newness.
•    If you something online but it’s not in store, River Island can order it online for you and have it delivered into store for collection or your chosen address.  This service can also be used if the store doesn’t have your size and is a free service when delivered to store.
