I’ve loved TOPSHOP for a long time.  My first job was working at TOPSHOP back in 1996 (yes, I am that old), on a mere £2.84 an hour but I didn’t mind because I got access to all the trend lead stories, hot-off-the-catwalk outfits and the excitement and edge that only TOPSHOP can offer.

Two decades on, my love affair hasn’t dwindled because they still manage to stay ahead of the fash pack in their own unique way.  I chatted to the Brighton TOPSHOP team to discover what they’ve got coming up this season…

The Personal Shopping Suite

If you have never tried the plush personal shopping suite, upstairs in the corner of the TOPMAN floor, you must!  It is a free service run my the immaculate and knowledgeable Carla Webster whose friendly and approachable manner will make you feel instantly at ease.

You can choose from a range of services and book direct or online via the TOPSHOP website.  Packages include the likes of The Newer Than Now, to get you prepped for new season trends or The Wardrobe Overhaul, for a complete makeover to transform your look.

Carla and her team work with you and your needs and haul the shop floors for the best finds, giving you bags of style advice along the way.  All of this this is washed down with complimentary drinks and cake and you’re bound to be brimming with inspiration at the end.  Did I mention it is free?

Listen out for events across Brighton too since Carla is full of ideas and contacts that will bring trends, discoveries and exciting happenings your way.

Always leaders, TOPSHOP has a number of stories for spring / summer but three of my favourites include Boy Meets Girl, where gender lines blur with boyish yet pretty pieces. Think structured blazers paired with feminine summer dresses, printed co-ords and bold statement tees.

Standout Denim brings embroidered denim in a new dimension.  Floral embroidery, sequin embellishment that presents two-tone hues with a stroke of the hand, studded jean jackets and customized co-ords re the order of the day.

Modern Graphic summarises a look that is clean, modern and strong with tailored yet edgy pieces.  Monochrome combinations, strong cuts and lines, gingham and vinyl, pinstripes and colour pops.  If you love an elegant yet fierce look, especially in the work place – this one is for you.

What’s On

For a flavour of what is to come from now until the end of summer, you can expect to experience more style classes and popups that teach you fashion skills as well as deliver fun and inspo by the bucket load.

Following the badges and patches trend in customising your gear, jewellery personalisation should be coming to a TOPSHOP workshop near you as will metallic tattoo application and personalising your phone covers with the likes of Skinny Dip.

There will be student shopping events with a live DJ and party atmosphere, swimwear concessions with Jaded and Love, a holiday shop of beach essential and generally a hot and happening six weeks of summer – all with the cool TOPSHOP edge.

I can’t wait!
